Through selling high quality items at affordable prices we raise funds for our international work; through sharing our donations and space we fulfill our local mission of empowerment.
To locally and globally serve marginalized people to empower them to live lives of dignity, worth and respect, to which all are entitled as God’s created children.
Our Parent Company
A Second Thought Resale Shop opened in 2001 and offers clothing for the entire family, in addition to fashion accessories and housewares. The store is owned and operated by Heritage Christian Services and all sale proceeds benefit the agency’s International Ministries, which includes collecting, refurbishing and matching wheelchairs to people in third world countries.
Heritage Christian Services partners with thousands of people throughout Rochester and Buffalo to ensure everyone – including children and people with developmental disabilities – feels valued and respected. Most of the agency’s 3,000 employees work to support people so they can find the best place to live and work and build strong community connections, through residential support, respite, community habilitation and employment supports. Other employees work with children at Expressive Beginnings Child Care in Henrietta, Greece or Webster.
The agency is also known for community impact programs that address health and wellness, education and self-empowerment. Together, those programs serve more than 25,000 people annually.
